He was born on February 8, 1834 in Tobolsk, Siberia (present
Russia) and was the youngest of 17 brothers. Within chemistry, he stands out
from the age of 23, when he was in charge of a course at the University of St.
Petersburg in 1869 he created the first version of the periodic table and
managed to predict properties of undiscovered elements based on his theoretical
position within it.
He also conducted studies on smokeless gunpowder and oil,
along with showing interest in naval and aerostatic development. Despite his
contributions he is not recognized with a Nobel prize because of the conflicts
he had with Svante August Arrhenius.
personally Dmitri has always called my attention, being that
despite having a fairly hard life and was little recognized until he died, he
managed to investigate in science, agriculture, livestock, industry, oil, being
a genius that often happens overlooked on all sides of the world.
