 Frankly I have not had a very remarkable holidays, but the one I like to remember is when with my family (my parents, brother and sister) toured the north of Chile. It was in the summer of 2008, we start in Santiago and move on until we reach Arica. We passed through the big cities of the regions and tourist places of each place, like Humberstone, La mano del desierto, Valle de la Luna, etc. Somedays it was just a car ride, although with stops in a row, because my brothers and I were very small and we couldn't stay calm for long time and other days we would dedicate ourselves to touring the places, eating local food, taking many photos, going to the beaches, taking walks in the squares and parks. The trip lasted two weeks (it was all my father's vacation) and those are the most beautiful memories of my childhood, those always make me smile, especially for remembering the nonsense we did and for the wonder of touring a large part of the country, which at that time for me was so...

A country I'v e wanted to go to for a few years is Germany. I don't know much about that country other than its role in the history of the last century and that was part of the Holy Roman Empire, but its cities,  like Berlin or Munich,  call my attention. I would like to go on vacation to visit historical places of the Second World War and see centuries-old buildings, such as castles or churches and I would especially like to go to Hamburg, because my girlfriend has relatives in that city and we both want to go to Miniatur-Wunderland, the most largest model railway attraction in the world. Also, of course I want to buy many souvenirs and eat the typical food like würstchen, brötchen and the bier. Another reason why I want to go to Germany is because it is next to France and I really want to visit my uncle and my cousins to see in person how much they have grown.

I never thought I would write a blog, but now I write the tenth post. At first, I was not very interested in the idea of publishing these texts, but I must admit that it is much more fun to do this than to read a sheet with incomplete sentences in English. About my writing skills, I do not know if they improved a lot, I say, I still consider myself a fool for English and I already knew how to write relatively coherent texts, but I learned some things that I'm sure I would not have learned from "the traditional way". Without a doubt, one of the best things about this was being able to read the publications of others, whether they were true or false what they wrote, I was struck by each of their posts. Now I can not think of what topics could be written in the future, maybe food... or hobbies. Another aspect about which I had not thought about blogs is the responsibility that is given to the student to write weekly, which is better demonstrated than just completing ...

I love stories, whether they are told in books, movies, series, radio shows, anime, etc. and I find it quite difficult to choose my favorite among all of them but of all of them I would like to write about a series of books that I have loved since childhood. Tales of the Otori is a series of historical fantasy novels by Gillian Rubinstein (under the pseudonym Lian Hearn), set in a fictional world based on feudal Japan and through five books tells the story of the Otori lineage. The first book, Across the Nightingale Floor , is about a 16-year-old boy named Tomasu, member of The Hidden, a peaceful town that one day is invaded and  massacred by Iida Sadamu ( leader of the Tohan ) and his men. Honestly, of all the subjects we have this semester, the one I like the most is calculus. I am sure that most would not say that this is the subject they most enjoy studying, at first I did not like it either, but eventually I managed to love it, surely it is because it was in the first subject that I really felt that with each exercise I was moving forward a bit (and for that small feeling of happiness to finish an exercise and that is correct). Also that this subject serves as an introduction to learn to form more complex mathematical models (using derivatives and integrals, geometrical series or vectorial analysis for example) while forming a more methodical thought (although others find it boring). Until now and almost at the end of the semester we have seen functions and limits and how they are graphed in the Cartesian plane, and in classes we are always passing new content while trying to relate what is seen with the past subjects, although frankly I do not pay much attention...

If I have to choose an expert in the field of chemistry, that would be Dmitri Ivanovich Mendeléyev, most only know him as the one who discovered the pattern we call today the periodic table of the elements, but he made several contributions in various fields. He was born on February 8, 1834 in Tobolsk, Siberia (present Russia) and was the youngest of 17 brothers. Within chemistry, he stands out from the age of 23, when he was in charge of a course at the University of St. Petersburg in 1869 he created the first version of the periodic table and managed to predict properties of undiscovered elements based on his theoretical position within it. He also conducted studies on smokeless gunpowder and oil, along with showing interest in naval and aerostatic development. The trip (I prefer to call it trip rather than vacation) that I want to tell is the one I made last year to France. Leave the university caused me more problems than I expected and when my grandmother noticed that I was seriously affected, she asked me to travel with her to France to see my uncle (her son) and his family. We were there all summer, living in Cambrai with my uncles and my two little cousins, in the three months we made trips to Paris, Saint-Michel, Arras, Versailles and Brussels (the capital of Belgium). It was a unique experience, since my uncle works in the Louvre Museum, which gives him an administrative pass to enter all the historical places of the country, which allowed me to know several famous places in ways that a normal tourist can not (and avoid two hours of row to enter each site).
